Summer at the Library!

Summer Reading will be celebrated June 22-August 1. Here is our Summer Reading page. Invitations to our Kick-off party will be delivered to the elementary schools or are available in our library branches or on-line at the Summer Reading page. Everson will be celebrating Thursday, June 25. It's the place to go to get a Summer Reading Card, a free "forever" book, and learn about all the things happening this summer.

The Whatcom County Library System has some other fun (and FREE) programs planned at the Everson Library (and hopefully Sumas Library when it is re-opened):

  • Kids Book Swap, where you can bring gently used books and take home someone else's. We will decorate a tote to take home.
  • Rock Painting
  • Let's Make Music and Dance - make a simple instrument and join the dance party
  • Kid's Craft Fair (sign up early, there are only a few spots left)
  • D & D for grades 6-12
  • Check Out a Discover Pass- anyone in Whatcom County can check out a Discover Pass to visit State Parks for FREE!

Dates and times can be found in Explorations, our event magazine, or on our website. Filter by library branch to see updated information for either the Everson or Sumas Libraries (or venture across the county for events in Lynden, Ferndale, Bellingham, Blaine, Birch Bay, or Deming!).

SUMAS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EVENTS

These last few months of school are very exciting and busy here at Sumas Elementary and they will be here before you know it. Please be sure to keep an eye on the Notes Home and specifically the "IMPORTANT DATES" so you don't miss anything!

Also, this is a good time to remind everyone about the need for approved background checks to attend field trips, volunteer at school events, Jog-A-Thon and field day. Grandparents, aunts and uncles, and other important people love to come and show their support for our students. Please be sure these people have an approved background check before the event they wish to attend.

Contact the office for more information or to see if you are in need of an updated background check. Background checks are good for two years.

Smart Watches & Cell Phones

Hi Families! I just wanted to do a quick reminder about our technology rules at school. We ask that all cell phones, smart watches, and any other device be turned off and put in backpacks during the school day. This is a district wide policy and there are so many reasons we adopted it. If your child is sick or needs to get a hold of you, we will call you from our office phones. When students forget to take their smart watches off or turn off cell phones we give them a reminder to put them away and if they are unable to follow that direction, I'm always happy to hold on to the devices until the end of the day and would ask that families come and pick them up from the office.

Thanks for your support! It takes a village!

Annual Update

Annual Student Update continues to be Open!

We need your help. To assure that we have accurate and current information about your student(s) and family, we ask that you log into your Skyward Family Access account and complete the Annual Student Update Online form there. You will find the Annual Student Update tile under each of your student's name. Please complete this for each student. This is also where you would provide your permissions for the sharing (or not sharing) of your student's demographic information to various entities/agencies (such as pictures, name and grade to local media, vendors, higher ed, military, etc.) If you need help with your Skyward login, please contact the school office staff.
