About 90 Nooksack Valley High School sophomores recently embarked on a field trip to the Fisheries & Aquaculture Sciences program’s open house at the Whatcom Creek Hatchery as an extension of their classroom learning. The students are engaged in NVHS’ natural resources & ecology class and were able to get a hands-on experience learning about fisheries, aquaculture (growing shellfish and algae), hatchery operations and management, sustainable fishery operations, fish anatomy and aquaponics systems.
